What to Expect

We work straight down the official AKC Virtual Home Manners checklist — the ten things that turn an ordinary day at home from a negotiation into a routine. Nothing fancy. No class to drive to. Just your kitchen, your front door, and ten minutes a day.
- Handling & grooming
Your dog stays comfortable while you pet and brush them — head, shoulders, back, chest, belly, ears, and feet.
- Sit on cue
On the word alone. No treat in your hand, no luring.
- Down on cue
Same deal — your dog lies down because you asked, not because you baited it.
- Comes when called
From twenty feet away, or from another room entirely.
- Manners around food
Polite while you eat your snack, and steady while their own dish goes down.
- The doorbell
It rings and your dog does something reasonable instead of losing their mind.
- Go to place
Off to a mat or crate on cue, and settled there for a full minute.
- Plays with you
Hide and seek, a three-cup scent game, a trick, a favorite toy — proof of a real relationship.
- Out the door and down the block
Leash on, calm exit through the doorway, and a walk without dragging you.
- Exercise outside
Fetch, a disc, or whatever game the two of you actually enjoy.
And at the end, your dog is ready to test for the title.
Finish the course and your dog has done every item on the AKC Virtual Home Manners checklist. You film the ten exercises at home, an evaluator (me!) verifies the video, and the AKC adds the Virtual Home Manners title to your dog's record. No travel, no test day nerves, no crowded room — the whole thing happens in the house you trained in.
